Chiang Mai=Love part 2

Now I didn't think I could top our first day in Chiang Mai, but the second one was even more amazing than the first.

Chiang Mai= Orchids

There was a beautiful orchid farm that our tour guide took us to on the way to the elephant tour.

Chiang Mai= Crazy Food Markets

Our tour guide also stopped at a large food market so we could buy some coconuts to feed to our elephants. This market had some yummy fruit, but also some crazy stuff.

Would anyone like a cockroach? Or maybe a water grasshopper?

No? Then maybe you would like some bee larva instead?

Yikes! There was also some lizard, chicken feet and pig ears. Mmm my mouth is just watering thinking about it. This is our cute tour guide that took us around. He kept buying us food to try. He was so sweet.

Chiang Mai= Elephant Riding!!!

This elephant was my favorite one. She was a little smaller and not as aggressive when I was feeding her bananas.

Riding an elephant bare back was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! I loved feeling the rough skin and her flapping ears on my feet.

We rode though the jungle for a bit. We passed by fields of corn, banana trees, and lush green hills. It was beautiful. The elephant kept trying to eat and at one point she was trying to break off an entire tree and she started to raise up a bit. I thought for a few minutes that I might die, but it ended up fine. She got the tree and carried it around in her mouth eating it for a bit. Kind of like a dog with a stick, instead it was an elephant with a tree trunk.

Our tour guide took tons of photos of us riding the elephant, but he accidentally left his camera at the elephant farm, so hopefully with lots of prayers he will email us those photos. We also got to bathe the elephant in a pond and we stood up on top her when she was in the water. The whole experience was unforgettable!

This was some of the beautiful green rice fields surrounding the camp.

This is my new Thai boyfriend. He gave me some fried rice in a banana leaf and he said if I would stay there and he would cook for me!

Chiang Mai= Love! Chiang Mai was amazing! Next stop India! We have already had some crazy adventures in India, but you'll have to wait till my next post.
